ECB: "You No Longer Have To Pay Taxes On Bitcoin Because It's Worthless"
The European Central Bank has created some waves this week, upsetting the European Union as a result of saying that citizens no longer have to pay taxes on Bitcoin capital gains or income because the currency's true value is $0. The EU responded harshly to the central bank by stating that they do not have jurisdiction over tax policy, and that cutting out taxes will make it more difficult to fund the war in Ukraine. Some are speculating that the central bank said this as an attempt to bail out Christine Legarde from legal troubles as she had previously been exposed for buying non KYC Bitcoin. Likely the central banker has gotten herself into hot water in regards to tax policies with her undisclosed Bitcoin.
Seeing as the Central Bank sees Bitcoin as worthless, that likely means they will not be seeking to regulate the currency anymore, and no longer sees it as a threat to the monetary system they oversee. This appears to be a massive victory in Europe for individuals using Bitcoin, as the central bank and regulators had been growing increasingly more hostile towards the use of Bitcoin.
Seeing as this news actually happened, and wasn't a fabricated story by Cointelegraph, the price of Bitcoin has remained flat.
