Bitcoin Magazine Partners with Good360 to Donate Inscriptions From Orphaned Blocks to Kids in Africa

Bitcoin Magazine today announced a new partnership with the 6th largest registered charity in the U.S., Good360 to save inscriptions from orphaned blocks, normally discarded by Bitcoin nodes, and send them to poor children and other impoverished people around the world.

Good360, headquartered in Alexandria, VA is know for its partnership with the NFL to send t-shirts, hats, and other apparel created for the team that loses the Super Bowl to impoverished communities around the world. "If you travel to many parts of Southeast Asia, Latin America, or Subsaharan Africa you are likely to see people wearing t-shirts celebrating the 49ers winning Super Bowl 58. Now, you might run into someone at a coffee shop in Nairobi who is excited to show you his replica Taproot Wizard NFT on his Nokia phone. That's NOT the official inscription!" said a Good360 spokesman. "It's what we're calling a 'replica NFT'"

The explanation for how this works was explained in a press release by Bitcoin Magazine. "We partnered with Umbrel to develop a special new lightweight Bitcoin client which saves orphaned blocks in cache, scans it for any NFT inscriptions, and sends the block to Good360 if any are present."

Miners find valid but ultimately unaccepted blocks often. A lot of work and energy went into the process of finding them but due to a variety of reasons such as network lag, they don't make it onto the blockchain. Under this program, instead of the network just discarding the blocks, miners who found blocks which end up being orphaned will be able to write off the amount of the block subsidy, in U.S. dollar terms, if an inscription from that block makes its way to the Global South via Good360.

The Bugle asked Shinobi if this new program and its tax implications might introduce MEV to Bitcoin mining during a recent X spaces but he was unable to answer our question before a laser eye maxi brigade stormed the X stage and caused the Space to descend into chaos.
